COOKING CLASS—MAKING SWEET UNFORGETTABLE MEMORIES

Isn’t it amazing how a taste or smell of something can bring pleasant memories flooding back into your mind of better days? That’s called “food nostalgia.” Yes, that’s really a thing and each one of us has it. The taste of certain foods can send you on a one-way trip down memory lane faster than you can say, “More, please!” What memories come to mind when you taste the ooey-gooey sweetness of Rice Krispies Treats?

For me, carefree playing hide-and-seek outside with cousins and other neighborhood kids only to be interrupted by my Grandma “Tee” calling us inside to take a break and partake of a confectionary snack that tickled our childish taste buds. Ah, the good ole days!

Well, at Darlene’s Wee Care 4 Kids, we realize that the events of the past year have brought about challenges for sure, especially for our kids. Yet, we strive to nurture our children despite the crazy world that they are growing up in. That is why we held a Cooking Class on Friday, February 5, 2021, for our Amazing Scholars.

Our talented Chef, Danita Johnson, taught the class step-by-step how to make delectable Rice Krispies Treats.

For the safety of our children, Chef Danita did all this remotely as the children followed instructions while watching iPads.

They could add other ingredients of their choice to their treats to customize it to their taste, style, and even shape.

Each of the Amazing Scholars were outfitted in a customized yellow chef hat, blue apron, and colorful mask for safety. Too cute for words!

The Amazing Scholars not only learned how to make Rice Krispies Treats, they made unforgettable sweet memories that we hope will last a lifetime.

Perhaps whenever they eat Rice Krispies Treats in the future, they will reflect on the fun times they had at Darlene’s Wee Care 4 Kids daycare instead of focusing on the craziness that is currently surrounding them. Thank you, Darlene’s Wee Care 4 Kids! We’ll never forget this delicious moment in time.
